1. Determine If You Are a Qualified Person

Your first step is to consult the appropriate to see if you are already considered a qualified person for a specific activity. You may already be defined as a qualified person and thereby do not need to be designated by the Minister.

Qualified persons are generally associated with a profession and/or professional body of practice. Examples may include:

  • An applied science technologist;
  • A professional agrologist;
  • A professional engineer/geoscientist; or
  • A professional forester.

4. Tips for a Successful Application

If an application is denied, it may be due to the applicant already being certified by a professional organization, or the applicant is lacking education and/or experience.

Here are some tips to help you with your application:

  • Review the Code Chapters and Requirements section.
  • Review the .
  • Provide clear and accurate information. Double check all details.
  • Include two professional references.
  • Include supporting documentation, including a photo of your degree(s), diploma(s) or certificate(s), and copies of memberships to related professional organizations.
  • Submit your application well in advance to avoid delays and allow time for processing.

5. Apply to Become a Qualified Person

If you do not fall into one of the classes in the code chapter and wish to be designated as a QP by the Minister, you will need to apply online.

6. Renewing or Transferring a Qualified Person Designation

Ministry-designated QPs need to renew their designation every three years.

To renew your designation, you do not need to reapply. Please send an email to envcode@gov.sk.ca.

Include your designation number and code chapter name. Ideally, you should request renewal one month before your designation expires. If it has already expired, please include an updated resumé or CV.
