±¦ÍþÌåÓý follows the National Standard for Pesticide Education, Training and Certification in Canada and recognizes training from other provinces as long as the certification meets the national standard and was granted within the last five (5) years.
Issuance of a ±¦ÍþÌåÓý licence is based on proof of training, not an out-of-province licence.
Individuals trained outside of ±¦ÍþÌåÓý wanting to apply for a pesticide applicator licence in the province must provide the following documentation with their licence application:
- A copy of the training certificate from an approved out-of-province training institution. If the training certificate does not indicate the date training was taken, please arrange for your training institution to send proof of training that indicates the training date to the licensing officials in ±¦ÍþÌåÓý.
- Copies of any valid certificate(s), licence(s) and/or permit(s) held in other provinces.
- New applicants to ±¦ÍþÌåÓý must complete the course on the ±¦ÍþÌåÓý regulations applicable to pesticide applicators and pass the examination through ±¦ÍþÌåÓý Polytechnic. You must provide a copy of the statement of achievement with the licence submission.
Out-of-province pesticide applicators seeking a ±¦ÍþÌåÓý licence in training categories not recognized in the province can:
- Write the ±¦ÍþÌåÓý Pesticide Applicator exam; or
- Provide proof of training (taken within the last five years) offered by an approved out-of-province training institution for an equivalent licence category.
±¦ÍþÌåÓý will not issue a licence:
- Extending beyond the expiry date of the licence in the originating province; or,
- Past five (5) years of the training date.
For further information on reciprocity for out-of-province training, contact the Pesticide Licensing Officer at PL@gov.sk.ca or call 306-787-4662.
