Community Airport Partnership Program

The Community Airport Partnership (CAP) is a program that provides funding for regional, community-owned airports in ±¦ÍþÌåÓý.

Funding is available for the rehabilitation, construction and capital improvements of airport infrastructure.

Eligible applicants include regionally focused, community-owned airports. Eligible airports should support:

  • Economic development;
  • Access to surrounding communities;
  • Air ambulance and medevac operations;
  • Commercial operations; and
  • Aviation safety.

Applications are currently being accepted. The deadline is September 15, 2024, for projects to be undertaken in the 2025-26 fiscal year.

4. Further Information

Applications will be reviewed to ensure they meet acceptable engineering and environmental standards. The applicant must notify the Ministry of Highways of any changes to the project cost or scope as soon as possible. The applicant is responsible for any additional costs exceeding the approved project funding.

Review Process

The ministry will arrange for the evaluation and ranking of projects by an independent review panel consisting of representatives from the ±¦ÍþÌåÓý Aviation Council, Regina Airport Authority, Saskatoon Airport Authority, ±¦ÍþÌåÓý Urban Municipalities Association, ±¦ÍþÌåÓý Association of Rural Municipalities, Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Highways.

All CAP projects are subject to ministry approval and budget appropriation. A notice of conditional approval will be provided to successful applicants for projects that are scheduled for completion in the following fiscal year. Once the budget has been approved, the applicant will be expected to enter into a contribution agreement with the Government of ±¦ÍþÌåÓý.
