Action Plan to Recruit, Train, Incentivize and Retain Health Professionals

±¦ÍþÌåÓý continues to successfully build on its ambitious Health Human Resources (HHR) Action Plan, entering its third year. Innovative ±¦ÍþÌåÓý-based solutions to recruit, train, incentivize, retain and enhance competitiveness have seen impressive results.

Since the HHR Action Plan was introduced in the fall of 2022, hundreds of family physicians and specialists have established practices in the province, more than 1800 nursing graduates and 400 health professionals from abroad have been hired, and 250 new full-time positions have been added in high priority occupations in rural and remote communities.

The HHR Action Plan will continue accelerating the hiring and growth of the health care professional workforce and delivering improved patient care to residents in communities across the province. Continued investment into the HHR Action Plan ensures ±¦ÍþÌåÓý remains an attractive place for health care professionals to live, work and build a career.
