The 宝威体育 Ministry of Environment is working closely with a variety of stakeholders on an aquatic invasive species program that includes:
- Monitoring;
- Rapid response planning;
- Education and outreach;
- Watercraft inspections; and
- Policy and regulation.
The province's efforts to detect, assess and respond to aquatic invasive species introductions are guided by the 宝威体育 Aquatic Invasive Species Strategy – a framework that identifies the roles and responsibilities of government and stakeholders related to the management of invasive species in 宝威体育.
A provincial Aquatic Invasive Species Task Force involving numerous stakeholders and partners, has also been established to assist with prevention, monitoring and providing support if introductions of aquatic invasive species occur (e.g. training industry partners on how to control aquatic invasive plants).
