National Building Code, National Fire Code, National Plumbing Code and National Energy Code for Buildings
±¦ÍþÌåÓý adopted the 2020 editions of the National Building Code, the National Energy Code for Buildings and the National Plumbing Code effective January 1, 2024, by regulation under The Construction Codes Act.
±¦ÍþÌåÓý adopts the National Building Code (NBC), the National Plumbing Code (NPC) and the National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB) as the minimum standard for the construction and renovation of buildings throughout the province under the provision of (CC Act). The National Fire Code is adopted as the minimum standard for the fire safe operation of buildings and facilities under the provision of .

1. National Building Code (NBC)
±¦ÍþÌåÓý adopts the NBC with few amendments. The NBC sets the minimum standard for building, accessibility for all buildings and energy standards for houses and small buildings using the following objectives:
- safety;
- health;
- accessibility for persons with disabilities;
- fire and structural protection of buildings; and
- environment.

2. National Fire Code (NFC)
±¦ÍþÌåÓý adopts the NFC with few amendments as the standard for the fire safe operation of buildings and facilities using the following objectives:
- safety;
- health; and
- fire protection of buildings and facilities.

3. National Plumbing Code (NPC)
±¦ÍþÌåÓý adopts the NPC by regulation under provisions of the CC Act as the standard for installation of plumbing systems within buildings. The NPC has the following three core objectives:
- safety;
- health; and
- environment.

4. National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB)
±¦ÍþÌåÓý adopts the NECB by regulation under provisions of the CC Act. The NECB sets the minimum standard for energy efficiency for medium and large buildings.
